Maltese government agency Malta Enterprises has signed a first of a kind Memorandum of understanding with T-Systems. The MoU makes T-Systems the first digital service provider to offer Blockchain as a service marketplace in Europe. T-Systems would be responsible for offering secure, scalable and rapidly deployable blockchain service including several tools for development and testing of blockchain networks.

Malta Enterprises is responsible for bringing in foreign investment into the country and scaling the local economic development. The MoU signed with T-Systems would offer Maltese based businesses with German Blockchain Ecosystem (GBE) by 2020. GBE is a globally operated blockchain solution provider which supports all common protocols of the Distributed Ledger Technology.

Malta is well known for its progressive stance toward emerging technologies like blockchain and is also the first EU country to provide a legal framework for DLT solutions.

Katharyn White, Chief Marketing Officer of T-Systems said,

“We are delighted to offer this unique platform to Blockchain developers, It will increase the success of Blockchain projects and accelerate the impact of Blockchain solutions on the market.”

The planned collaboration between the two parties would see the provision of an enterprise-grade blockchain platform that would support the likes of Ethereum, Hyperledger, and Corda DLT platforms. The partnership would also develop a validator service which would allow Malta-Registered firms to deploy Proof-of-Work based validator nodes. The firms which avail services from the joint venture would also get access to T-Systems security solutions.

The collaboration between the Maltese government agency and T-Systems would also conduct a series of educational seminars and training activities across major cities in Europe to keep the firms up-to-date with the rapid growth.

Kurt Farugia, CEO of Malta Enterprise expressed his joy and stated,

“This collaboration with T-Systems will give a further competitive advantage over other jurisdictions while adding more value to the already established Blockchain ecosystem. Companies using T-System’s GBE services will have a certification for their project by the Malta Digital Innovation Authority. The relationship with T-Systems will continue to build Malta’s reputation as a solid Blockchain jurisdiction.”
