Craig Wright Failed To Show How Much Bitcoin He Had Before December 2013 In Court Case

Craig Wright’s court case against Dave Kleiman had another hearing this week. Wright, a well-known member of the crypto industry (and a very controversial one) is being sued for $10 billion USD by the brother of his late business partner Dave Kleiman.

He was ordered to disclose all his BTC holdings before December 31, 2013, by the judge of the case and failed to do it. However, he did not receive any sanction for that, either, at least until now.

Wright’s dense attorney Amanda McGovern has been trying to prove that Wright cannot attest to how much money he had at the time. The reason for that may be because Wright and the late Kleiman have mined Bitcoin together, but the money is stored in a trust that is cryptographically protected. Also, Wright is said to have over 27,000 BTC addresses.

Steven Shadders, who worked on nChain before, was called to testify and he affirmed that Wright could not possibly say exactly how much BTC he had exactly because he had too much of it and it was too spread out.

The Case

Wright is being sued by the brother of his late partner because he is accusing of taking his Bitcoin. In order to determine this, the court had ordered Wright to give complete information about his financial situation related to Bitcoin. At the same time, the defense argues that it is impossible for him to do it.

The next phase of the hearing will happen on August 26 and both sides are set to give their closing arguments at the time.
